I agree, and I'd assume they're a lot more popular in the UK, that being said, In my half-year of riding I've only seen one other Triumph Scrambler (one of the nice 2017 ones, that definitely cant offroad without modding) and I haven't seen a single Ducati Scrambler, it's weird, because I'd assume it'd be a decently popular bike, nice HP
This isn’t the case with the BMW alone; all modern scramblers I’ve ridden are primarily road bikes, and they handle like road bikes on dirt. There’s a reason the Japanese invented the dirt bike some 40-odd years ago – probably because scramblers didn’t work that well off-road.

Scramblers of any sort strike me as a dubious diminishment of street ability for the purpose of meaningless off road aesthetics. That is coming from a guy with 26000 miles on a poseur adventure bike. BMW can do as it pleases, including buying into the scrambler trend. I would buy the r nine t pure over this though.

I was looking for a bike capable of minor off road stuff. I’m 5’6ā€, and the UGS fits me. The Triumph street scrambler seemed less capable off road and the high pipe gets in the way, the 1200 xe was too tall and the 1200 xc was ok but really too heavy, and the high pipe heat was a total deal breaker.
Black and Yellow are the heritage colors of one of the first BMW GS models in the world, and here is a modern rendition of the once fabled off-roader from Ge
BMW RnineT Scrambler; Wrist: Ari Henning: MSRP: (2017) $13,000 The Karoos may work well in the dirt—and I intend to put them to the test with an off-road adventure once I get the time—but

It's also $7,000 more, so keep that in mind. The Scrambler/Urban G/S is not set up or really marketed like that. So what.
The BMW R Nine T Scrambler has a classic scrambler design, with a high-mounted exhaust and elevated off-road-style seats. The bike also features round headlights and a simple minimalist instrument panel. The design makes the Scrambler have an attractive and elegant classic retro look. BMW R Nine T Scrambler Braking and Safety Wind Jacket $199.99. The Urban G/S and the ol’ R80 are both sort of a mishmash of parts that work because… well, they work! Both bikes feature a nice flat-twin engine with considerably more chutzpah than a single-cylinder trail bike. The shaft drive that BMW has used so famously for so long makes a bunch of sense.
Cheap option is to modify the original fork with a 20mm longer damper rod and racetech cartridges and get to 140mm travel, but you would also need an extended top fork cap off say hondas 750 Africa twin to raise ground clearance further (search forum for this). The damper rods are only £35 each from bmw but would need a fabricator to extend

Both my triumph scrambler and UGS get plenty dirty once in a while. The Scrambler is black so less forgiving on scratches but its held up nicely. One thing to be mindful of if you have the R9T roadster is that it has a 17" wheel which isn't ideal in the loose stuff (lack of stability).

Mlawless25. Hello all! I wanted to add some information for adding the rev counter. There is a new part number for the 2021 (and assuming onward) rev counter. The previous models part number (62118564506) will install, however the engine temperature does not display. For the 2021 model, locate and order part number 62111691265.

It won’t be the most formidable off-road machine, but thanks to the addition of a 19ā€ front wheel, an elevated exhaust system, and telescopic forks, light trail riding is more than possible. Despite the off-road styling, the Scrambler’s 1,170cc air/oil-cooled, 4-stroke flat twin engine is geared more towards road riding, producing 109 gYbPfd0.
